About Me

National Award-Winning Fine Artist and Private Educator, specializing in the CLASSICAL APPROACH TO PORTRAITURE IN OIL. My talents include portraits, murals, oil painting, acrylic paintings, pastels, graphite pencil drawings, illustration, cartooning and charicatures, sculptures, set design, graphic design, compact disc covers and much more. Please take a moment to view my portfolio. I am ALWAYS learning. I study nature as I walk to my car. I read about and glean from other artists. I try to pursue excellence in whatever I do. I approach everything I do with the quest toward perfection. "How long does it take you to do a portrait?" I am asked this quite often and my answer is always the same. "I don't really know. I'm not sure if I've ever 'finished' one. At some point, someone takes it away." Born in Southern California, raised by two creative parents. Mom painted landscapes in oil and created floral arrangements and marketed them to doctors and various retail shops. Dad liked to draw and was a semi-professional Gospel Quartet singer. From my early teenage years, I couldn't help but be creative. I pursued music and art from then on. I moved to the beautiful state of Tennessee in 1991. My wife and I raised our three children here. We have been blessed with two grand daughters, who also live near by. At some point, my wife and I sense that we will return to Southern California.

Events

All "TONY GOODWIN ART PARTY" events are currently on hiatis in Tennessee. I am using my time between now and mid-January, 2012 to complete a large commission piece. Beginning in February, 2012, we will be MOVING THE PARTY to Southern California for our headquarters.I will continue teaching on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 pm at Michaels at The Avenue, Murfreesboro, Tennessee until mid-January, 2012. I will do occassional events for Grumbacher Products, as well, until the move.

Procedures

PORTRAITSStarting Fees and Process -Portrait Procedure - GRAPHITE PENCILSimply supply the photograph you wish to capture. Typically, I reproduce the portrait with an 11" x 14" image area of the head and shoulders. This fits well in a standard 16" x 20" frame. The portrait procedure begins with a discussion in which the size, setting, and background of the portrait is decided. Clothing and other details will also be determined. Prices for a single person start at $175, averaging around $225. Pets start around $85, average around $125. Add 70% for each additional person on the same canvas. Any larger size can be negotiated.Portrait Procedure - COLOR PENCILSimply supply the photograph you wish to capture. Add 70% for each additional person/pet on the same canvas.Portrait Procedure - OIL PAINTINGThe portrait procedure begins with a discussion in which the size, setting, and background of the portrait is decided. Clothing and other details will also be determined. During this time I will take numerous photographs and make notes and sketches of certain details. Using the photographs as reference, the client, with my assistance, decides on the best pose for the portrait. From this information, the final price is determined and a contract of agreement is signed. A 30% nonrefundable deposit is required at this time. After this I will return to my studio and begin work on the portrait, using the photographs and sketches as references. The client will be able to view the portrait as it progresses (in person or through photographs sent via e-mail). Upon completion of the portrait it will be delivered to the client. After acceptance of the portrait, payment of the remaining balance on the contract is due.Travel, mileage, shipping, and other associated expenses are additional. These are itemized and billed separately from the portrait.YOU WILL RECEIVE A WRITTEN AGREEMENT WITH EVERYTHING DISCUSSED PRIOR TO THE WORK BEGINNING. YOU WILL SEE PROGRESS AT DIFFERENT STAGES, upon request.PLEASE NOTE: The type of portraiture I do is NOT quick and takes weeks and months, not days. Should there be a specific deadline you are requesting, make it aware from the beginning to see if it is even feasible. An additional 30% fee may be added for "RUSH" projects.Starting Prices - Prices are for a single subject with simple background. Prices increase with multiple subjects, complex backgrounds or complex clothing. A 30% discount will be given for additional subjects on same canvas. Things that make the price increases would be specific backgrounds added, detail in clothing, things added or changed in the reference photo, etc.Staring prices -Bust size 16”x20” $2,200 (Classical Oil) $1,000 (Standard Oil)½ figure size 18”x24” $3,500 (Classical Oil) $2,000 (Standard Oil)¾ figure size 24”x36” $4,900 (Classical Oil) $3,200 (Standard Oil)Full figure 28”x40” $7,000 (Classical Oil) $4,900 (Standard Oil) Sizes listed above are averages and may vary slightly based on composition. Size of portrait determined by NUMBER OF SUBJECTS and detail. It is BEST to CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS and receive a more accurate quote.MURALS AND WALLSMURALS and WALL TREATMENTS MURALS - From a simple company logo to a massive, full color reproduction with facades, I am your one-stop artist. No job is too small or too large. My murals are painted and then sealed for protection, both interior and exterior designs. I can match what you have, should you just need minor touch-ups on your existing mural. Whatever your need may be, please contact me for a quote. My work is guaranteed. Prices start at $4 per square foot for designs like simple line art, start at $9 per square foot for simple images and child-like characters, start at $15 per square foot for the more complicated productions. FAUX WALL TREATMENTS - Whether you need something simple or something worthy of a bank or themepark, I would welcome the project. I am trained with and use only the highest grade, Faux Effects products. My work is guaranteed. What is a TONY GOODWIN ART PARTY? Pretty much what it sounds like. Not your Grandmother's art class! Picture a night with friends for a special occasion, enjoying a favorite beverage, learning step-by-step painting techniques with a qualified instructor. NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED! "STICK MAN" ARTISTS WELCOME!!! LAUGH WHILE YOU LEARN!! I supply all the materials and qualified instruction, you supply the willing participants and venue. If you trust your instructor for 2-3 hours, your guests will walk away with a night of laughter plus a piece of creativity painted with their own hands that they can be proud of!

The event described above is excellent for FUNDRAISING for your

f avorite charity. A portion of the ticket sales will be given for the night's cause. I

will also donate 2-3 pieces of my own work to be auctioned off in a silent auction.

100% of the auction amount will benefit the cause. I will donate 40% of any

painting sales during the event.

I have customized the event, celebrating my FAITH IN CHRIST, comparing my art lessons with FAITH lessons. The evening is full of laughs and FAITH BUILDING. Great for churches and faith-driven groups. I am an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
